wistful dreams

wistfully dreaming, hands gathering the tender roses of his cheek,

a chance brush, feeling the warmth that feeds their blush beneath the surface of his skin.

instead, the paralysis of fear suffocates my reckless heart like an injection of venon to my system,

a chance meeting with the stinging bee's bitter kiss.

his smile, with the clever stealth of a pickpocket,

steals the words from the corners of my lips,

taking with them my breath, the wind on wish sails my fruitful wish,

dancing further out of reach, as a kite caught on a limb.

no arrows from the angel's bow will set me free,

for my angel has left me unguarded, so it is

only my wistful dreams find truth, always in my dreams.

My hands long to caress his cheek, To feel the warmth just beneath the surface. But timid fear holds my heart in its grip, Paralyzing reckless desire.

When chance brings us together, His smile steals my words and breath away. Leaving wishes flittering out of reach, Like a kite entangled on high.

No arrows from Cupid's quiver can free This love-struck soul he's left defenseless.

Only in sleep does my joy find release - There our eyes meet in truth, there our hands cannot part.

I dream of the day fear loses its grip, Allowing joyous recklessness to dissolve my trembling lips. Then will hands know the tender bliss Of a love no longer bound to the realm of wistful dreams.
